Looking down from above: The red shock absorber keeps the turbine from bouncing when the blades automatically tilt upward in winds above 30 MPH. High speed winds have TOO MUCH power! This deliberate protective action is called "furling". The spring on the bottom positively pushes the turbine back down into the wind when speeds are reasonable. The green wires will take the electricity to the batteries.
