Cut the upper case a and the lowercase a out of cardboard and do first alphabet page for alphabet book. Sort plastic animals into alphabetical order. Go grocery shopping; RiLee is allowed to pick out items beginning with letter A. Cut out her grocery items and assemble into a collage. Work on short vowel sound worksheets. Read Animalia and pick out words related to each a letter on each page. Play Pyramid Game which requires that RiLee read a word within 10 seconds or less in order to fill her space in the pyramid. If she fails, I get a chance to read the word and fill in a space on my pyramid. A total of ten words are selected. Work on handwriting exercise of developing a sentence using as many R words as possible and copying the example on handwriting paper. The first time just selecting a number of words from the beginning list from Games from Learning. The second time use the words found in the reader, The Kite by Mary Packard. Then have RiLee read The Kite and review the Advanced Chart in Five Minute Phonics. Work on handwriting exercise of developing a sentence using as many S words as possible and copying the example on handwriting paper.
Craft: Make S
critters out of Model magic: snake, snail and swan. Make and eat spaghetti.
